Artist's Inspiration

This photo was taken during a colorful autumn sunset in 2016 at the site of a shopping plaza that was recently torn down. The combination of the sunset and puddles created a surrealistic scene that took my breath away. Though the sand looks reddish, it’s actually white sand reflecting the color along with the reflection off the water. The storm drain that seems to float in the sky adds to the intrigue and mystery.

In this shot, I was trying to create a sense of rebirth. Colorful sunsets like this one bring a dramatic end to the day and need to be captured for all their beauty. As a newer centerpiece in my art shows, I’ve had lots of folks say this image looks like a scene out of Star Wars.
