SunRail passenger car #3005 has been temporarily transformed into an art gallery on rails! The Art Is Moving program kicked off on March 16, 2017. Art pieces are being displayed on all the coach’s exterior passenger windows (on perforated vinyl to allow visibility for safety purposes), and hung on two mid-level interior partitions.
The art on the windows can be clearly seen from the inside and outside of the train. The featured artworks will be switched out approximately once per month.
This mobile exhibit, called “We’re All Connected,” is the brainchild of Orlando artist Nicki Drumb, and was privately funded by several Central Florida arts organizations. It uses a wide variety of artworks from more than 20 local artists from all the counties served by SunRail (Osceola, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia Counties).
I’m honored to have two of my Puddle Reflections photographs selected for display: Space Shuttle and Water Tower. Take a look at all the talented Central Florida artists and the great work included in the Art Is Moving project here on SunRail’s website. And take some rides to support local arts and local mass transit!
