I have touched on my inspirations in past articles, though I haven’t touched on my aspirations as much. Aspirations by definition are more personal and more insightful. Though different, aspirations and inspirations together are powerful in propelling someone forward.
With anything in life, not only my career, I have goals, aspirations, things I want to achieve. Behind each achievement are aspirations that drove me there. There is a common aspiration though in all of what I do and that is having my art connect with the viewer. The driving force for my art career is the connection that my art makes with people. Every time someone engages me about my art, that connection, is what I aspire for. While having someone purchase my art is the highest form of support I can receive, anyone that connects with my art fulfills my aspiration.
I create art with the viewer in mind. I choose subject matter that I feel will be interesting to the viewer. I put a lot of thought into a shot, from the composition to the final shot, so when the art connects with a viewer, all of that time and effort is rewarded on many levels.
Art is extremely subjective and different types of art appeals to different people, so when you connect with art, make sure to let the artist know. You could be the one that keeps them creating.
